Dan, our Lead Instructor, brings a lifetime of practical experience and professional expertise to every course he teaches. Raised in the rugged wilderness of Wyoming, his early years were shaped by hunting, fishing, farming, horseback riding, and cattle ranching—skills that laid the foundation for a deep understanding of self-reliance and outdoor proficiency.

After high school, Dan served five years in the United States Marine Corps as a Rifleman and Designated Marksman, where he developed advanced capabilities in fieldcraft, first aid, survival, and disaster preparedness. His military service instilled a high level of discipline, decision-making under pressure, and a commitment to excellence that continues to define his instructional approach.

Following his time in the Marine Corps, Dan expanded his professional competencies in the protection field, working in armed security and private-sector protective services. His responsibilities included threat assessment, site security, emergency response, and the coordinated application of force-protection principles in dynamic environments.

Dan is also a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), bringing clinical-level medical training to his teaching. His unique combination of wilderness expertise, tactical skill sets, and emergency medical knowledge enables him to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application—providing students with instruction that is both practical and mission-focused.

Brianna, Dan's wife, complements our team with her love for the outdoors and her profession as a full-time elementary school teacher. Raised in rural Washington State, Brianna brings a calm and professional demeanor to Summit View Survival & Preparedness, fostering a safe and effective learning environment.
